What is abortion

Abortion is the medical or surgical termination of a pregnancy before the fetus can live independently outside the mother's womb.

It can be categorised in to two types

medical abortion: this involves taking medications to end a pregnancy. It's typically used within the first 1o weeks of pregnancy and involves drugs like mifepristone and misoprostol 

●surgical abortion: this involves e medical procedure to remove the contents of the uterus .

Common methods include vacuum aspiration,dilation and curettage (d&c) and dilation and vacuum (D&E) 

 Health risk to the mother fetal abnormalities cases cases of rape or incest 

Potential risks and complications:

Infection

Heavy bleeding 

Injury to uterus or other organs 

Emotional and psychological impact after care.

It is important to have follw up care to ensure complete recovery and to address any physical or emotional concerns .
